Sounds of Drums and Fanfares Marked the Celebration of the Defender of the Fatherland Day at the Central Kids Store on Lubyanka

February 24 a special concert dedicated to the Defender of the Fatherland Day was held at the Central Kids Store on Lubyanka with the support of the Directorate of the Spasskaya Tower International Military Music Festival.

This Sunday everyone visiting the Central Kids Store on Lubyanka had a unique opportunity to catch a glimpse and listen to the spectacular Girl Drummers Band of the Boarding School for Girls of the Russian Ministry of Defense, one of the permanent participants of the Spasskaya Tower Festival.

A vibrant concert show unfolded onstage of the store’s main atrium featuring performances not only by the renowned girl drummers band but by the singing, Irish and contemporary dance ensembles of the Boarding School as well.

Despite their young age these talented girls are prize-winners of various international contests and perform at the most prestigious venues of Moscow featuring Red Square, the State Kremlin Palace, the Central Academic Theatre of the Russian Army and others.

The Boarding School for Girls of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation was established in 2008 as part of the Strategy for the Social Development of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and has proved itself as one of the best pre-university educational institutions of the Ministry of Defense of Russia, holding for four years in a row the prize pennant awarded to the Best Cadet Corps School of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

The Boarding School is attended by daughters of servicemen from remote military garrisons, perished servicemen and combat veterans awarded with state awards for fulfilling their military duty.

Besides the general learning plan, the Boarding School boasts a plethora of extended activities: at the moment, more than 50 courses, schools and workshops are open for attendance, such as choreography, singing, music, sports, theatre, handmade, culinary, journalism, creative writing courses etc.

The Girl Drummers Group is one-of-a-kind projects of the Boarding School: its students regularly perform at the best capital’s venues bringing good vibes and positivity.

The Girl Drummers Group of the Boarding School is an award-winner of the DRAM FEST RUSH FESTIVAL 2017, All-Russian National Competition for Percussions and regular participant at the Spasskaya Tower Military Music Festival.
