Military Bands’ Concerts Were Held in the Bauman Garden and Izmailovskiy Park

Go back

Saturday, July 21, as many as two wind bands’ concerts were held in the Eastern part of Moscow within the “Military Bands in the Parks” program.

The music program began at 2 p.m. onstage of the Bauman Garden which hosted the performance of the Band of the Russian Emergencies Ministry.

Each melody was welcomed by the audience’s enthusiastic applause. The concert included old-time Russian waltzes, war years’ compositions as well as a potpourri of popular songs about Moscow.

The audience that gathered that day to listen to wind music was very diverse — from pairs representing the noble age to parents carrying their kids in strollers and youngsters.

Organizing an improvised dance floor in front of the stage where a military band is performing has already become a pleasant tradition of our Saturdays’ meetings that are being organized by the Directorate of the International Military Music Festival “Spasskaya Tower” with the support of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Russian Emergencies Ministry, National Guard Forces and Government of Moscow.

“How can one resist such wonderful music — legs on their own went on dancing when the band began performing „Quadrille“. I immediately remembered my childhood and the pioneer camp — the times when we had been so young and learned from our seniors how to perform that Russian dance. I want to thank all for this feast”, told us resident of the Basmanniy district of Moscow Taisia Udina who is on pension now.

Every single concert of the military bands has a surprise for the viewers. This time the intrigue of the Russian Emergencies Ministry Band’s performance was confined in its last composition — to conduct the well-known march “Farewell of Slavianka” was chosen Artur Prokof’ev, the youngest viewer of the concert.

Then the baton of the music marathon was passed to one of the most eco-friendly parks of Europe — Izmailovskiy Park.

At 5 p.m. the Military Band of the National Guard Forces stepped out on the main stage of the park.

The concert was opened by the composition “Hussar March” from the movie “O Bednon Gusare Zamolvite Slovo” (“Say a Word about the Poor Hussar”) which is being loved by various generations.

The well-known melody was immediately taken up the representatives of the “silver generation” and the noble hussars waltzed their dames around to the sounds of the military band music.

The evening continued with various popular national compositions. Viewers enthusiastically welcomed “Tsyganochka” (“The Gipsy Girl”) and the song of Cuban sailors “Habanera”. Then they very attentively listened to the splendid “Armenian Melody” which was accompanied by the reed-pipe solo.

Every single person who that evening came to the park sang along the potpourri of songs about the best city on Earth — about Moscow, and the extremely popular song “Kalinka-Malinka” was received with a thunder of applause.

To recap, this year thirteen Moscow’s parks and gardens take part in the “Military Bands in the Parks” program.

The 2018 concert cycle is going to be adjourned August 18 in the Alexander Garden forestalling ten gorgeous and colorful evening shows of the International Military Music Festival “Spasskaya Tower” which is going to be held on Red Square from August 24 to September 2, 2018.

The next concert within the “Military Bands in the Parks” program is going to be held July 28 at 5 p.m. in one of the oldest parks of Moscow — “Krasnaya (Red) Presnya” Park.
