“Every year there are fewer and fewer veterans whom we can thank in person for their heroic deed, and it is important that the today’s and the future generations have respect and honor for this important day”, told the press office of the “Spasskaya Tower” Festival Head of the Military Band Service of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation — chief military conductor, member of the Arts Council of the International Military Music Festival “Spasskaya Tower” Colonel Timofey Mayakin.
“Today is an exceptional day for our country — we celebrate the 73d anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Every year there are fewer and fewer veterans whom we can thank in person for their heroic deed, and it is important that the today’s and the future generations have respect and honor for this important day, that they keep in mind and appreciate the peace that our country’s got by paying such a high price”, Mayakin stressed in his greetings addressed to the veterans.
The chief conductor of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation underlined the role of music “which in the hard days of war raised the spirits of soldiers and officers, which continues keeping in our hearts the memory of those who are not with us anymore, who’s given their lives to free our Motherland from the fascist invaders”.
It’s not a secret that military bands are among the leading members of a military parade. Several dozens of military bands have participated in this year’s Victory Parade on Red Square.
By tradition, the Parade was opened by the drummers of the Band of the Moscow Military Music College named after Valery Khalilov.
Among the participants of the festive ceremony on Red Square were: the Central Military Band of the Ministry of Defense — Head of the Band Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Colonel Sergey Durygin, the Central Band of the Navy named after
