August 22, at 5 pm Moscow’s Red Square will host the solemn Cancellation Ceremony of the Festival’s official stamp. For defacing the stamp, a special cancellation bar and the first day of issue cover were made.
The Festival’s postage stamp cancellation ceremony will feature Mr. Sergey Smirnov, Head of the Spasskaya Tower Festival Directorate, and Mr. Yaroslav Mandron, Russian Post FSUE Deputy Director General on postage business and social services. They will deface the stamp with a special first day of issue cancellation bar. It’s worth noting, that philatelists highly rate such stamps as the cancel is valid only one day.
Furthermore, they will cancel an unmarked postcard dedicated to the Spasskaya Tower Festival and depicting the President’s Band and the Honor Guard of the Moscow Kremlin Commandant’s Service of the Federal Guard Service of the Russian Federation.
This year Russian Post has issued three different collectable postcards that you may absolutely for free get at the Russian Post pavilion on Red Square and send to the addressee. The pavilion will be open from August 23 to September 1.
