Sea Calling, a New Song by Pakhmutova and Dobronravov Was Presented during the Central Military Band Concert

The Central Military Band of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, permanent participant and a true showstopper of the Spasskaya Tower International Military Music Festival staged a concert in the Great Hall of Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory.

The symphonic section of the renowned military ensemble presented their new program called Tenderness dedicated to the all times popular songs. The band was conducted by Colonel Sergey Durygin, Honored Artist of Russia and Head of the Band. Songs were performed by the Bolshoi Theatre and Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Music Theatre leading singers featuring Vera Kononova, Andrey Baturkin and Stanislav Mostovoy. Ivan Korpan performed two compositions in solo accompanied by the band, clarinet and saxophone. The concert also featured participation of the Premiera children chamber choir of the Rikhter Children School of Arts.

Among the concert’s guests of honor there was Alexandra Pakhmutova, legendary Russian composer and People’s Artist of the USSR.

She presented her new song to the poem by Nikolai Dobronravov, prominent Russian song composer. The poem called Sea Calling is dedicated to the Russian Navy. It tells the audience about the sea calling the young and fearless to commit themselves to their Motherland, about bravery of the Russian sailors and might of the Russian Navy. Talented bass-baritone Nikolay Ryabukha, Pakhmutova scholarship holder and various international contests prize-winner had the honor to perform the composition.

The audience was very enthusiastic to listen to several other well-known and beloved songs by this famous artistic duet: Tenderness, Melody, Street of Peace, Russian Waltz, Belovezhskaya Pushcha (Bialowieza Forest) and Hope.

The concert program also featured compositions by Isaac Dunaevskiy, Evgeni Ptichkin, Mikael Tariverdiev, Anatoli Lepin, Arno Babajanian, all being famous song composers. Nearly all these songs have become soundtracks of the Soviet and Russian movies occupying its well-deserved place among the golden assets of the country’s cinema production.
