The Central Military Band Will Perform at Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory

The Central Military Band of the Russian Ministry of Defense, permanent participant and showstopper of the Spasskaya Tower Festival, is going to perform January 20 at 7 p.m.in the Great Hall of Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory.

The symphonic section of the renowned military ensemble will present to the audience their program called Tenderness. The program is dedicated to the song composers and includes masterpieces created by both Soviet and Russian People’s Artists featuring Alexandra Pakhmutova, Mikael Tariverdiev, Arno Babajanian, Yan Frenkel.

The Central Military Band will be conducted by Colonel Sergey Durygin, Honored Artist of Russia and Head of the Band.

The concert will feature participation of the Bolshoi Theatre and Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Music Theatre artists as leading singers.

The Central Military Band of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation

The Central Military Band of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation is the leading creative group of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and is one of the best-known bands in the world. It was founded in 1927. The band consists of two independent branches — a wind section and a symphonic section. Wind and pop ensembles were formed, respectively, on their basis.

The band takes part at main social, political and cultural events, including formal state events and military parades on Red Square. With great honor it represents Russian military music culture at international military music festivals both in Russia and abroad.

The band’s repertoire features masterpieces not only by classical Russian and foreign composers, but military and patriotic compositions as well. The Central Military Band recorded the State Anthem of Russia, which is acknowledged as a standard of excellence. It has also recorded an anthology of Russian military music, stored in the State Archive of Television and Radio Programs. Only the past few years alone, the band has recorded about a dozen CDs of Russian, foreign and military music.

The band regularly goes on tour. Great virtuosity and exquisite performing skills of the ensemble musicians have managed to win the hearts of people all around the world: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Great Britain, Germany, Denmark, Israel, Italy, China, North Korea, Malta, Mongolia, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, the USA, France, Switzerland, and Sweden.

In 2018 the band represented Russia at the Hamina Tattoo International Band Music Festival held in Finland from July 31 to August 5.

The Central Military Band is the showstopper of the Spasskaya Tower International Military Music Festival and every year amuses Muscovites and guests of the capital with its brilliant skills and performances.
