The press-conference of the legendary French singer Mireille Маthieu was held August 28 on Red Square.
Madame Mathieu will perform at the Spasskaya Tower Festival for the tenth time.
“When I first came to the Festival I performed to the accompaniment of the French Republican Guard Band. Beside me was standing a Russian band and Mr. Sergey Smirnov who himself had invited me to participate at the Spasskaya Tower Festival. Thanks to him I’m here for the tenth time. Valery Khalilov is also my big friend. Every time I left Moscow I sang him the song “Moya Moskva” (“My Moscow”). He is not with us any longer but our hearts are with him”, told Madame Mathieu.
According to her, the Festival is always a big celebration and brilliant show that represents music culture of different countries. She added that performing on Red Square was a big honor and great joy.
Answering one of the questions about what words she knows in Russian Madame Mathieu said “Ya vas lublu, dobriy den, dobriy vecher” (“I love you, good afternoon, good evening”).
She noted that she enjoyed singing in Russian. And not so long ago she recorded a CD with classic songs performed to the classic music. Among others the CD includes Mozart compositions and the song “Lubimii Moi Malysh” to the music of Tchaikovsky. In the Russian version of the CD the song will be in Russian. Then Madame Mireille sang a cappella in Russian a few lines from the song.
Madame Mireille said that the CD would see light this year on November 9 and next year on March 6 she will come to Moscow and sing the song.
Mireille Mathieu also told that she had the honor to be in Moscow at the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup and added that the created atmosphere was amazing as well as the performance of the Russian national team.
“When I previously came to the Festival the weather was always rainy, but now it is sunny and hot. It is really surprising. This time I’ll perform songs that are dear to the heart of Russian audience”, told Madam Mathieu adding that she was sure that this year’s Festival would as always be the treasure of joy, love and music.
Madame Mathieu will perform at the Eleventh Spasskaya Tower International Military Music Festival on August 31, September 1 and 2. The last day she’s going to perform twice, both at the daytime and evening shows. Madame Mathieu will perform three of her songs - Pardonne moi ce caprice d`enfant, Sous le ciel de paris and Amour defendu.
