The Ninth Season of the Military Bands in the City Parks is about to Start both in Moscow and St Petersburg

This Saturday, June 14, Moscow and St Petersburg will welcome back the ninth edition of the fan-favorite Military Bands in the City Parks project. Throughout the summer all residents and guests of both Russian capitals along with some of the best military artists will be embarking on an emotionally charged music journey leading to the major destination of the year, the Seventeenth Spasskaya Tower International Military Music Festival on Red Square from August 22 to 31.

With the ongoing support of the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Organizing Committee of the Spasskaya Tower International Military Tattoo continues its efforts to revive one of the most charming traditions of the past, with military bands performing in parks and gardens, streets and alleys, and other iconic sites of Moscow and St Petersburg.

Each season’s line-up and program are carefully put together by Major General Timofey Mayakin, Music Director of the Spasskaya Tower Military Tattoo and Head of the Military Band Service of the Russian Armed Forces

The project, in essence, is a series of concerts staged by bands representing Russia’s military and law enforcement agencies, with performances taking place on weekends onsite different outdoor venues for free allowing all the audiences in.

This year, the program will take start in the glorious city of Kronstadt, in the vicinity of St Petersburg, with the 23d Military Band of the Leningrad Military District having the honor to be first to showcase what they have prepared to wow the audiences.
Then, we will move on to Moscow’s Gorkiy Park where the Exemplary Military Band of the Honor Guard will embrace the visitors in a cozy atmosphere of war years songs and popular hits.
