July 20, Saint Petersburg hosted its second performance of the Military Bands in the City Parks project, winner of the grant competition by the Presidential Foundation for Cultural Initiatives. Unfolding in the Alexandrov Garden, it welcomed musicians of the Military Band of the Nakhimov Naval School who decided to uphold the joyful atmosphere of the upcoming Navy Day celebrations.

This year Russia celebrates the Navy Day on July 28, and it’s a very special day for the whole country, particularly Saint Petersburg. Therefore, the Nakhimov Naval School musicians decided to put together a program to pay tribute to the Navy, its brave officers, and Saint Petersburg, being the birthplace of the Russian Navy.

Sounds of military marches and naval songs, all-time classics and popular music hits filled the lanes of the Alexandrov Garden, showing the richness and multifaceted nature of Russia’s Navy artistry.

Though the weather in Saint Petersburg was gloomy, musicians treated their audiences to a remarkable program full of vim and vigor, translating a genuine atmosphere of joy and coziness.

Thus, with music and dancing, the concert was just spectacular.

“We are honored to become part of the Military Bands in the City Parks. Music has always connected people, bringing along positive emotions and joy, for sure. Just in a few days we will be celebrating Navy Day, the most important day for all the naval soldiers and officers. Having an opportunity to celebrate it onstage, and showing our music to the guests and residents of Saint Petersburg, the birthplace of the Russian Navy, is a dream come true”, noted Sergey Ezhov, Head of the Band.

With the ongoing support of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Presidential Foundation for Cultural Initiatives, Government of Saint Petersburg and the city governor Alexander Beglov, the Organizing Committee of the Spasskaya Tower International Military Tattoo continues its efforts to revive one of the most charming traditions of the past, with military bands performing in parks and gardens, streets and alleys, and other iconic spots in Moscow and its environs.

Up to late September, military wind bands will stage as many as 22 concerts in both Moscow and Saint Petersbrug.

Throughout the summer, enchanting wind melodies will engulf parks and gardens, paving the way for the Sixteenth Spasskaya Tower International Military Tattoo that will unfold on Red Square from August 23 to September 1.
