Moscow’s Severnoe Tushino Park Embraced by a Kaleidoscope of Music

Go back

This Saturday, July 20, the Military Band of the First Semenovskiy Regiment treated all the visitors of Moscow’s Severnoe Tushino Park to their hilarious concert program. Kaleidoscope of Music, as they call it, brings together not only classical music pieces and marches, but also iconic and contemporary popular hits.

The concert began with the sounds of the Moscow Solemn Fanfares by modern composer Andrey Golovin, giving way to the world’s famous Semyon Chernetsky’s Old March and Max Kyuss’ Amur Waves pieces.

Vibrant Polka from the Kuban Cossacks Soviet movie, and tender Matvey Blanter’s In the City Garden song as well as a plethora of renowned melodies performed in the band’s unique interpretation led the audiences through an unforgettable experience.

And of course, the younger guests were taken on board as the ensemble infused their performance with several all-time popular children’s animated movie soundtracks.

Therefore, putting together this program the band’s musicians definitely hit the mark as literally everybody was singing along throughout the whole concert making it a true success. An entire performance flew by in a blink leaving no one untouched.

The audience gave the artists deserved standing ovations and numerous Bravo screams at the end, proving that the Semenovskiy Regiment band was a huge hit.

With the ongoing support of the Russian Ministry of Defense and Moscow’s Government Department of Culture, the Organizing Committee of the Spasskaya Tower International Military Tattoo continues its efforts to revive one of the most charming traditions of the past, with military bands performing in parks and gardens, streets and alleys, and other iconic spots in Moscow and its environs. Throughout the summer, enchanting wind melodies will engulf parks and gardens, paving the way for the Sixteenth Spasskaya Tower International Military Tattoo that will unfold on Red Square from August 23 to September 1.

The Military Bands in the City Parks became winner of the 2024 Grant Competition by the Presidential Foundation for Cultural Initiatives, giving the project an opportunity to step out of its traditional boundaries. Now, not only Moscow, but also Saint Petersburg will have a chance to witness some of the best music ensembles of the Russian Armed Forces and law enforcement agencies.

Up to late September, military wind bands will stage as many as 22 concerts in both cities.
