Go back

Today, September 1, the sixth show of the Fourteenth Spasskaya Tower International Military Tattoo hit the cobblestones of Red Square featuring gripping melodies and exciting dances as well as fascinating marching and regrouping patterns.

The night hosted participants from Russia, Belarus, Greece, Mexico, Qatar and a special surprise guest. Turetsky Choir and SOPRANO Art Group staged their one and only performance of this year’s Festival run with tremendous success. Both the groups are projects created by Mikhail Turetsky, People’s Artist of Russia.

“For us, performing at the Spasskaya Tower Festival is very interesting, important and exciting. And today’s very special occasion, as the Spasskaya Tower Festival is the project that promotes peace and unites peoples bridging the gaps by means of music, friendship and mutual understanding”, highlighted Mikhail Turetsky adding that their program fitted in very well making them part of the Festival. While Vyacheslav Fresh, one of the choir members, noted that they were like a vocal spetsnaz (special squad) ready to perform on any stage and any weather condition.

The program performed tonight is called Unity Songs. Becoming a genuine music embassy at the service of peace, this project is known all across the globe and has already been presented in Berlin, New York, Washington and Beijing. Songs about love, bravery and heroism make an indispensable part of our country’s history and fit perfectly within the leading theme of the 2021 Spasskaya Tower Festival, being Time, Music and Peace.

Turetsky art groups perform in more than 10 languages demonstrating this in their festival program. Classical music pieces and popular songs in Russian, Italian, English and even Latin were heard tonight on Red Square. At the end of the program the artists performed, according to Mikhail Turetsky, a unique composition composed by Mikhail Glinka in 1837 to mark the opening of the first railway line in Russia that connected Saint Petersburg, Tsarskoe Selo and Pavlovsk (dedicating it to their partner, the Russian Railway JSC).
