This Sunday, September 6, all the fans and admirers of the Spasskaya Tower International Military Music Festival will watch online this year’s Festival evening show unfolding live on the Sobornaya (Cathedral) Square of the Main Cathedral of the Russian Armed Forces.
Following numerous requests by the Spasskaya Tower Festival audiences, the Festival Directorate together with the Russian Ministry of Defense have arranged a live broadcast of the Thirteenth Spasskaya Tower International Military Music Festival show on ZVEZDA TV channel as well as a stream on their official websites and social media accounts.
The Central Band of the Border Guard Service of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation will open the prologue of the Festival. The Soviet fighter aircraft of the WWII Lavochkin La-5 will also become part of the Spasskaya Tower Festival show. This iconic fighter constructed by Soviet aerospace engineer and aircraft designer Major General Semyon Lavochkin was operated by great Soviet pilots and heroes of the Great Patriotic War Ivan Kozhedub, Kirill Evstigneev, Vitaliy Popkov, Alexey Alelukhin, Nikolai Skomorokhov, Vladimir Lavrienko, Ahmet Khan Sultan and many others. The thirteenth Festival run won’t definitely lack the audiences’ favorites including the Central Military Band of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the Band of the Moscow Military Music College named after Lieutenant General Valery Khalilov together with the Girl Drummers Band of the Boarding School for Girls, the Central Band of the Russian Navy named after Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, the Kremlin Equestrian School accompanied by the Moscow Cossack Choir. The Band of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, the Military Band (of the Moscow Garrison) and Honor Guard of the 154 Preobrazhensky, the Combined Band of the Russian Airborne Forces that will perform together with the Song and Dance Company of the Russian Airborne Forces and Honor Guard Cadet Unit of the Ryazan Airborne Command Higher School named after Army General Margelov will also stage their performances within the thirteenth Festival production.
Throughout the Festival’s twelve years of history the show’s grand finale have always featured a breathtaking performance by the Festival’s participants combined band while the skies above Moscow’s Red Square have been coloured by spectacular fireworks. This year this wonderful tradition won’t be broken — the 2020 Spasskaya Tower Festival show unfolding beneath the walls of the Main Cathedral of the Russian Armed Forces will be closed to the sounds of a thousand-trumpets band and magnificents fireworks’ show. The skies high above the church will be coloured in the colours of the Great Victory due to the pyrotechnical geometry of the seven firing spots situated on the gallery around the cathedral.
