Yesterday Moscow’s Red Square hosted the press-conference of the iconic Mireille Mathieu, guest star of the Spasskaya Tower Festival.

“The Spasskaya Tower Festival means very much to me and I cherish every participation in this wonderful celebration of music. It has a unique breathtaking atmosphere. Every time I step onto the cobblestones of Red Square, I feel like I’m meeting my loyal audience”, said the prominent French singer. “Every artist probably dreams of performing on Red Square. When it comes to me, when I see the stands full of people and St. Basil’s Cathedral behind me, I literally feel how fear is surrounding me. The longer I sing, the more I become scared”, shared her emotions Madame Mathieu.

According to Madame Mathieu, the Spasskaya Tower Festival gives it audiences an opportunity of listening to music of different countries, meet new people and their culture, being the Festival’s outmost value. “Music contributes to establishing friendships and relations between people. Andit’sveryimportant”, shesaid.

“My brightest memory of the Spasskaya Tower Festival is performing the anthems of Russia and France on Red Square”, told Mireille Mathieu.

She also told the press about her favorite place in Moscow. That is the St. Nicolas Church in the Khamovniki district of the capital. “It is a tiny but very beautiful place. I know all the people who serve there and cherish this church a lot. I visit it every time before performing in Moscow and on my way back to the airport”, highlighted Madame Mathieu.

She also told that she arrives in Moscow beforehand in order to prepare herself for the Festival without rush. “It feels like home in Moscow. I hope that throughout the Festival we will have the sun shining bright in the sky as the sunny weather is very important for the Festival. Ihavealreadyrehearsedtoday. On Red Square I will perform three songs - Non, je ne regrette rien, Pardonne-Moi Ce Caprice and Je suis la. The last song I performed back in 1967 when I first arrived in the USSR”, shared the singer.

Let us remind you, that Mireille Mathieu will become part of four shows of the Twelfth Spasskaya Tower Festival featuring August 30, 31 and September 1. Last day of the Festival she will perform twice, both in the evening and daytime shows.
