The Qatar Police Band is the leading musical division of the country’s Ministry of Interior. It has significantly contributed in preserving Qatar’s music heritage as well as in the development of its national military music traditions through adapting popular tunes to suit a military orchestra.
The band was formed in 1950 and featured a single section of trumpets. Since then the group has significantly evolved increasing its volume to 218 musicians on copper, rhythmic and other instruments. The Police Band takes part in all police and civil events and ceremonies held in the State of Qatar as well as represents its country abroad.
The Qatar Police Band had the honor to accompany the Thirteenth United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, where the opening ceremony was honored by His Highness The Emir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad
