The Qatar Military Music Band

The first military band within the Qatar Armed Forces was formed at the early 1949 with trumpet players alone whose main task was limited to playing military calls. In 1951 they were joined by a drumming unit (to participate in infantry training and several light shows,), and three years later, in 1954, by a wind section. In 1958 the Al-Qirb Band was established to form the nucleus of the future Qatar Military Music Band. In 1982 the first and second ensemble’s brigades were formed, while in 2010 it already listed four music brigades to carry out their duties to the fullest.

Receiving necessary attention from the military music command officials, the Qatar Military Music Band was given the honor both to support all official ceremonies and events held within the State of Qatar as well as represent the country abroad. In addition to the symphony orchestra the band also features a cavalry unit, a camel unit and a folklore section.

On invitation from its friends and partners the Qatar Military Music Band took part in various military music festivals held in Bahrain (1973), Italy (1997–2004), France (1993, 1996, 2010, 2011), Germany (2001), Oman (1999), the UAE (1998) and US (1991), as well as within the 2010 China Expo.
