Sounds of Waltzes, Rock-n-Roll and Popular Hits Filled the Air of Moscow’s Perovskiy Park

Go back

Today, June 1, Perovskiy Park on the east of the capital welcomed the Military Band of the Moscow Higher Military Command School to celebrate the International Children Day.

Enjoying this warm and sunny day in Moscow, people of all ages, from children to elder ones, gathered around the main stage in the park to listen to some of the best military musicians.

This year the Military Band of the Moscow Higher Military Command School has prepared a special program consisting of various potpourris to suit to every fancy. They performed Hit International (featuring Frank Sinatra’s songs), Abba Gold, the Best of Herb Alpert (full of the 1970s world hits), Classic Rock-n-Roll as well as potpourris featuring popular war years’ songs and Soviet cartoons’ soundtracks. The band also performed Larionov’s Kalinka and Tabachnikov’s Odessa songs as well as the Amur Waves waltz by Kuess. To finish strong they opted for the world-famous Farewell of Slavianka composed by Vasiliy Agapkin.

The audience of today’s concert was extremely enthusiastic, receiving every music piece with thundering applause and countless bravos.

Thus, everything and everybody contributed to the atmosphere of never ending joy and happiness.

The band staged its today’s performance within the Military Bands in the City Parks, a special project carried out by the Directorate of the Spasskaya Tower International Military Music Festival with the support of the Russian Ministry of Defense and Moscow’s Government.
