Audience of the Kuzminki Park Concert Embathed the Central Band of the Russian Navy with their Applause and for the First Time Heard the Song “Sea is Calling”

Go back

It was not surprising at all as the performed composition was a symbolic salutation for the Muscovites and guests of the capital from the Russia Navy Day Parade which had been held in Saint Petersburg the Sunday before. Musicians of the Central Band of the Navy were responsible for the music accompaniment of this solemn celebration.

That day the Central Band of the Navy was enthusiastically received by the audience’s applause. Even the weather greeted the performance of the renowned band with a welcoming rain enrolling the entire park fifteen minutes before the concert and stopping exactly a minute before the first stroke of the conductor’s stick.

“Everybody was nervous and worried that the long awaited concert would be cancelled because of the rain. But the Russian Navy is in control of everything and even of the weather as after the pouring rain the sun began shining brightly in the sky and the concert began”, told us Zinaida Volkova, a big admirer of wind music, without containing her joy.

We’d like to remind that the Kuzminki Park concert has been one of the final performances within the Military Bands in the Parks program which for the third summer in a row, from May to August, is being carried out for the joy of the wind music admirers.

The concert programs are being organized by the Directorate of the Spasskaya Tower International Military Music Festival with the support of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and the Department of Culture of the city of Moscow.

“Owing to the organizers of these beautiful concerts and wonderful performance of the military musicians we don’t stay at home, all the diseases and sorrows go away giving place to good mood. Besides there is no a single chance of staying still. Tell me, how anyone could have done it today on hearing the sounds of “Rio-Rita” melody or of the “Soldier in Love” song”, confessed Lidia Grishina, permanent spectator of the Military Bands in the Parks program concerts.

That evening the guests of the park had an opportunity of hearing music compositions featuring practically all genres, from the classical “Songs of the Varyag Guest” of Rimsky-Korsakov performed by Roman Shevchuk, leading singer of the band, to the Stella and Janko duet from the Free Wind operetta performed by the leading singers Dmitri Khromov and Natalia Shmitt as well as to the beloved song “Looking into Blue Lakes” performed by the leading singer Vera Kayackaya.

The song “Sea is Calling” came to be a surprise for the Muscovites and guests of the city. For the first time it had been sung a week before during the Russia Navy Day Parade held in the Northern capital of the country. The music piece was especially composed for the Central Band of the Navy by Alexandra Pakhmutova and Nikolai Dobronravov. The song telling about the courage of mariners as well as about the force and might of the Navy adjourned another concert staged by the military musicians in one of the Moscow’s parks.

“Today’s concert has been similar with the one we performed on the Palace Square of Saint Petersburg a week before within the Russia Navy Day Parade celebrations. The sudden rain at the beginning has definitely disappointed the musicians. We’ve thought that the weather would make the people leave the park. But we want to thank all the spectators and tell them that we are very grateful that they have remained faithful to the music despite the rain and thunder and warmly received our performance”, told the 1st Rank Captain Alexey Karabanov, Head and Artistic Director of the Central Band o the Navy named after N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov.

We’d like to draw your attention that the Military Bands in the Parks program concert cycle is going to be adjourned August 18 in the Alexander Garden forestalling ten remarkable evening shows of the grandiose Spasskaya Tower International Military Music Festival which is going to be held on Red Square from August 24 to September 2.

The next concert of the Military Bands in the Parks program is going to be held in Zaryadye Park on August 11 at 5 p.m. The main stage of the park will welcome the performance of the Military Exemplary Band of the Honored Guard.
