The Military Band of the National Guard Forces of Russia Will Perform at Babushkinskiy Park

Go back

This Saturday, July 20, the Directorate of the Spasskaya Tower International Military Music Festival is taking its Military Bands in the City Parks to the north-east of Moscow. It’s now the turn of Babushkinskiy Park to open its gates and welcome some of the best military musicians of Russia. As usual, the project is enjoying the support of the Russian Ministry of Defense and Moscow’s Department of Culture. This time it will feature the Combined Military Band of the Fifty-Fifth Division of the Central District of the National Guard Forces of the Russian Federation under the lead of Major Yuriy Kluchnikov, conductor of the band.

The Combined Military Band began its artistic way back in 1966. Throughout its fifty years of history the group has developed into a highly professional artistic ensemble that successfully performs on various concert venues around Moscow and its region. The band also takes part in different international music festivals and contests, including the Spasskaya Tower Festival, provides music accompaniment at solemn events with participation of the officials of the Russian Federation. Besides, it has the honor to annually take part in the Victory Parade on Red Square.

Let’s us tell you a few words about this Saturday’s venue. Babushkinskiy Park of Culture and Recreation is a unique piece of nature in the north-east of Moscow providing its visitors peace and serenity amidst the concrete jungles of the capital. The park was named after Mikhail Babushkin, well-known pilot and Hero of the Soviet Union. Founded in 1898, it underwent reconstruction in 1955. In the 1960s the renewed park attracted young men and women who came there to listen to a wind band, dance and come to know each other. In 2013 the park once again went under the reconstruction. It got beautiful park lanes, recreational zones, a dry fountain, an open-air cinema as well as a new summer stage that brought back to the park sounds of the best Russian and foreign music pieces.
