Another run of the Military Bands in the City Parks will take place this Saturday, July 13. Enjoying support of the Russian Ministry of Defense and Moscow’s Department of Culture, the Directorate of the Spasskaya Tower International Military Music Festival is taking the program to Moscow’s Red Presnya Park that will open its gates at 5 p.m. for the Military Band of the 147th Motor Vehicle Base of the Russian Ministry of Defense, debutant of the season.
The 147th Motor Vehicle Base of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation was formed back in 1944 to support activities of the Red Army General Staff. Representing the base, the band has the honor to be part of the Combined Military Band of the Moscow Garrison and annually take part in the Victory Parade on Red Square. Besides, it provides music accompaniment during solemn and official events.
Let us tell you a few words about this Saturday’s venue. Red Presnya Park was created in 1932 onsite of a manor park. Today it is considered to be one of the most beautiful monuments of the 18/19th centuries’ landscape architecture. At the end of the 18th century the Duke Gagarin, landlord of the manor, set up a garden of the Dutch type with straight channels and lime trees lanes. Back than the Gagarins manor was called the Venice in the garden. These channels and lime trees lanes have survived till the present days. Furthermore, the Octagon pavilion and Tuscany column, both pieces of the 19th century architecture, could also be seen today. The Red Presnya Park is one of the most popular places of attraction and resort of Muscovites and guests of the capital.
