Kremlin Equestrian School Introduced a New Program on the Day of Russia

Go back

The Kremlin Equestrian School, which is a permanent and one of the brightest participants and partners of the International Military Music Festival Spasskaya Tower, presented the updated program Horse Traditions of Russia to the Moscow residents and guests of the capital.

For three days, from 10 to 12 June, celebrating the Day of Russia — a national holiday — the Kremlin Equestrian School supported by the Moscow Department of Culture organized demonstration performances at the capital’s sites: in the Vorontsovsky Park, Kolomenskoye Museum-Reserve, Lianozovsky Culture and Recreation Park and Izmailovsky Culture and Recreation Park, and directly on the celebration day in the heart of Moscow — in the Theater Passage.

The performances of the KES traditionally and invariably gathered a large number of spectators. This is not surprising. The uniqueness of the program of the Kremlin school is that it is not only an exciting spectacle, but also an educational event. Spectators could see not only the skills of riders — elements of jigging, flanking, saddle and dressage — but also learn a lot of interesting and new things.

During the demonstration program, the students of the Kremlin Equestrian School did several turns, including the dressage tests of horses of the Russian breeds, which were accompanied by a talk on the history of their origin. Then there was a demonstration of different kinds of Cossack troops with a historical talk about them.

«Our main and paramount task is to preserve the culture and traditions of horse riding and promote equestrian sport," said Boris Petrov, general director of the Kremlin Equestrian School. «It is very important that all our events are interesting and entertaining for spectators of all ages.»

Young spectators could visit an equestrian town organized on each site. It was possible to participate in various master classes, for example, a ponny saddle, and get the photo with the best riders of the School.

The most vivid element of the festive program, as evidenced by the greatest interest on the part of spectators and media representatives, was the joint performance of the Cavalry honorary escort of the Presidential Regiment and Children’s Group of Equestrian Ceremony that demonstrated one of the most colorful military ceremonies — cavalry guard mounting. This program is not new for its participants, since the riders demonstrate it every Saturday on the Cathedral Square of the Moscow Kremlin. But it is more interesting to observe the accuracy and coherence of their movements.

«The program that we presented during three days is just fragments of our big performance, which is being developed specially for the anniversary of the Spasskaya Tower Festival," commented Boris Petrov. «We will be presenting different turns throughout the summer. The entire performance will be shown in the days of the Festival.»
