The Spasskaya Tower on Sakhalin International Military Music Festival keeps marching on across Russia’s Far East island. Today, September 26, it was the turn of the Poronaisk town to welcome participants of this year’s run.

The Central Military Band of the Russian Ministry of Defense, the leading music ensemble of the country’s Armed Forces, performed onstage of the Central Concert Hall of the town literally scoring full house. Delighted audiences enthusiastically welcomed renowned military artists awarding them generous bravos and applause.

Meanwhile, on September 25, the Band of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Armenia Republic made its debut within the Festival’s events in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.

Musicians began their concert with a spectacular defile show in front of the Russia, My History Exhibition Center performing a medley of Armenian national melodies. Then the concert continued in one of the museum’s halls. Military musicians performed pieces written by Arno Babajanyan, Kostantin Orbelyan and Robert Amirkhanyan, famous Armenian composers, as well as instrumental orchestra compositions and originally arranged traditional melodies. Joined by leading singers of the Song and Dance Company of the Armed Forces of the Armenia Republic, the Band of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces also performed songs on the Russian and Armenian languages. The artistic union of these two military ensembles has been a tremendous success over many years.

This year’s run of the Spasskaya Tower on Sakhalin International Military Music Festival began on September 20 in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk with the concert of the Central Military Band of the Russian Ministry of Defense onstage of the Oktyabr Cinema and Concert Hall. Led by Colonel Sergey Durygin, Head of the Band and Honored Artist of Russia, military musicians opened their performance with Boris Alexandrov’s Long Live our State patriotic song chosen to commemorate the 166th anniversary of the Sakhalin Island becoming part of Russia back in 1853. Then the ensemble presented their new concert program dedicated to the upcoming 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and ending of the WWII.
