Massed Children and Youth Band Will Perform in Zaryadye

Go back

On May 12, 2019 more than a thousand of young musicians combined into a massed children and youth band will perform onstage of the Zaryadye Park Large Amphitheater within the Third Spasskaya Tower Children and Youth Wind Bands Contest.

For the second year in a row, Zaryadye will host the participants of the Spasskaya Tower for Children carried out by the Spasskaya Tower Festival Directorate. The new venue has allowed the organizers turning this wonderful celebration of young musical talent into a much more exciting and interesting event both for its participants and audiences. As Zaryadye is not just a common park. It’s a new type of public space where the concepts of nature and technology, education and entertainment, history and modernity are united and complement each other.

The Spasskaya Tower Massed Children and Youth Band saw light in 2017. Led by Colonel Evgeniy Nikitin, conductor of the President’s Band and Honored Artist of Russia, about a thousand of young gifted musicians performed popular songs and melodies right near the Kremlin walls. The idea of creating the massed band belongs to Lieutenant General Valery Khalilov, the first Music Director of the Spasskaya Tower Festival (2007–2016), and Ms. Olga Golodets, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia.

This year the Spasskaya Tower Massed Children and Youth Band will become even larger.

Besides, the event won’t definitely lack other pleasant surprises prepared by the organizers.

This year young ensembles will compete for the right to perform in the finals of the Seventh Spasskaya Tower Children and Youth Wind Band Festival, held from 23 to 25 of August 2019 onstage of the Children Playground of the Twelfth Spasskaya Tower Military Tattoo on Red Square.

In 2019 the project has gained support by the Department of Culture of the Government of Moscow.
