It was announced today, April 5, to the reporters by Mr. Kapila Waidyaratne, State Secretary/ Deputy Minister of Defense of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka at the 7th Moscow Conference on International Security.
«I am pleased to attend this conference. Russia and Sri Lanka has have for about 60 years, and cooperation between our countries continues to develop also on the cultural level, with the Sri Lankan Military Band performing at the Spasskaya Tower International Military Music Festival on Red Square later this year. The following bands will represent our country: the Sri Lanka Army Band, the Navy Band and the Air Force Band," said Kapila Waidyaratne.
INFORMATION
The Sri Lankan Military Band is the leading band of Sri Lanka and one the most acclaimed bands in south Asian region. It comprises the Ceremonial Band and the Concert band which form the core for the wind and popular music ensembles.
The band participates in main country’s social and cultural events, including formal state events and military parades. The band has performed the Sri Lankan and foreign music at the international military music festivals and other events both in Sri Lanka and abroad.
In August 2018 for the first time in history the Sri Lankan Military Band will make its appearance on Red Square within the framework of the Spasskaya Tower Military Music Festival.
