Results of the II Children’s Wind Bands Festival and Contest

The II Festival and Contest of the Children and Youth Wind Bands, Drummers and Majorettes from the Central Federal District was held on May 12 in Moscow’s Zaryadye Park. The Festival and Contest represents a preliminary round of the Children and Youth Brass Bands Festival “Spasskaya Tower for Children”.

This year’s Festival and Contest was held onstage of the Large Amphitheatre of Zaryadye Park sponsored by the Mayor and Government of Moscow. The new venue allowed making this musical feast even more interesting and informative both for its participants and viewers.

Skills and talent of the young musicians were judged by the panel of professional judges including big names in the sphere of wind and orchestra performance. The panel included:

  • Anatolii Zep — Chief conductor and Head of musical art section of the Polenov Russian National House of Folk Arts, Honored Worker of Culture of Russia;
  • Alexander Khalilov — Colonel of the Russian Armed Forces, Honored Art Worker of Russia, Associate professor and lecturer of the Military band service faculty of the Military University military institute (military conductors);
  • Daniil Kramer — People’s Artist of Russia, laureate of the European Prize of Gustav Mahler, jazz pianist, composer and producer;
  • Vadim Eilenkrig — distinguished Russian trumpet-player, bandleader, pedagogue, TV host.

We are glad to announce the results of the II Children’s Wind Bands Festival and Contest and name the groups that have passed to the next round and will take part in the Children and Youth Brass Bands Festival which is going to be held from August 24 to August 26 onstage of the children’s playground of the International Military Music Festival “Spasskaya Tower”.

The participants of the Children and Youth Brass Bands Festival are:

First degree laureates:

  • Wind Band of the First Music Cadet Corps named after A.V. Alexandrov. Moscow State Institute of Culture — 9.86 points.
  • Senior Girls’ Band of the State Budget Educational Institution School № 1770. Moscow Music Cadet Corps — 9.74 points.
  • Concert Wind Band of the Children’s Art School named after Rikhter. Moscow — 9.73 points.
    • Second degree laureates:

      • Combined Wind Band named after S. O. Dunaevskiy and Wind Band of the Bronnicy Children’s Art School of the Federal State Budget Educational Institution “Central House of the Railway Employees’ Children” — 9.0 points.
      • Junior Wind Band of the First Music Cadet Corps named after A.V. Alexandrov. Moscow State Institute of Culture — 8.86 points.
      • Children Brass Band and Ensemble of the Majorettes — Girls-Drummers of the Municipal Budget Educational Institution “Children’s Art School № 5”. Kaluga — 8.48 points.

      Third degree laureates:

      • Students Brass Band of the Kaluga Regional Musical College named after Taneev — 8.26 points.
      • Jazz Wind Band of the State Budget Educational Institution of Moscow “Children’s Music School named after N. S. Golovanov” — 8.19 points.
      • Brass Band “Shatura-Band” of Municipal Autonomous Educational Institution Children’s Art School named after Kalinin. Shatura — 8.18 points.
      • “Girls’ Pension of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation” — 7.98 points.

      We want to congratulate the following groups that have become diploma winners of our Festival and Contest:

      • Wind Band “Vivat” of Municipal Budget Institution “Children’s Wind Musical School № 2”. Balashikha — 7.93 points.
      • Jazz Band of the Music Classes of Moscow City Children’s Music School named after V. M. Blazhevich on the basis of State Autonomous Educational Institution School “SHIK 16” — 7.84 points.
      • Wind Band of the State Budget Educational Institution of Moscow “Moscow State Combined Children’s Art School „Kuskovo“”, the structural branch of the “Children’s Art School named after N. A. Rimskiy-Korsakov” — 7.83 points.
