The Band of the National Guard Forces of Russia Will Perform in Singapore

At the end of November, from 24 to 30, the Exemplary Band of the National Guard Forces of the Russian Federation is going to stage a number of concerts in Singapore. Performances are dedicated to the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relationship between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Singapore.

The concerts are to be held at the National University of Singapore concert hall and will include a plethora of compositions by Russian and foreign authors featuring the Festival Coronation March by Tchaikovsky, a fragment from the Tale of Tsar Saltan opera by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, the Flight of the Bumblebee by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, the Caravan by D. Ellington, Viidu na Ulitsu (I’ll Walk Along the Street) and Ah, Ti Dushecka (Oh, You Pretty), both Russian popular songs, and a lot others.

Events are being organized by the Russian-Singapore Business Council in cooperation with the Rostec State Corporation.

At the 2018 Spasskaya Tower Festival the National Guard Forces of the Russian Federation will be represented by the Band of the Independent Special Task Division of the Order of the Red Banner, Orders of Zhukov, Lenin and the October revolution named after F. E. Dzerzhinsky.

The first military band of the division was formed in February 1926. During the Great Patriotic War musicians from the division’s bands formed a jazz band that as a part of the field concert brigade performed for soldiers and officers of the Red Army. Since its formation the band has provided musical accompaniment for important social and political, cultural and large-scale public events, such as wreath-laying ceremonies, reception of foreign delegations, review of troops, and military music festivals.

The Federal Service of the National Guard Forces of the Russian Federation was established under Decree N.157 of the President of the Russian Federation of April 5, 2016 on the basis of Internal Forces of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.
