Go back

The combined band will include ensembles of military educational institutions and military units representing all power and law enforcement ministries and agencies, part of the Moscow garrison. Among them there will also be some of the permanent participants of the Spasskaya Tower International Military Music Festival, particularly the Central Military Band of the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Central Band of the Navy named after N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov, the Exemplary Band of the Honor Guard, the Combined Military Band of the National Guard Forces and the Military Band of the 154 Preobrazhensky Regiment. It’s worth noting that the Victory Parade will be the one and only opportunity to listen to this unique military group.

Major General Timofey Mayakin, Head of the Military Music Band Service of the Russian Armed Forces — Chief Military Conductor and Music Director of the Spasskaya Tower International Military Tattoo, will be in charge of the band. He will be supported by lieutenant colonels Klein, Samonin, Petrovich and majors Filippov, Kharkov, Krasneckiy, Tyshuk, Gayanov and Girin.

On the eve of the Victory Day Major General Timofey Mayakin gave the Spasskaya Tower Festival press service a small interview telling that “Tomorrow we are celebrating the 74th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, a very special day to everyone. I’d like to sincerely congratulate all the heroes who courageously fought against the invaders on the battlefield and in their dedicated work behind the lines. We’ll never forget their heroism. It is our duty to cherish forever the memory of their feats and bravery as well as of their countless sacrifices in the name of peace. And tomorrow’s Victory Parade is our special way to pay tribute to all veterans of the Great Patriotic War and home front workers”. Besides, Mr. Mayakin noted that music had played a huge role during the war saying that it encouraged and stirred fearlessness in people as well as gave rise to hope and faith in the ultimate victory.

The Combined Military Band will provide music accompaniment throughout the whole parade, opening it with the famous Sacred War song by Alexander Alexandrov. All in all, sounds of more than six solemn marches and more than ten music compositions as well as the Anthem of the Russian Federation will fill the air around Red Square on that special day. The world-famous Farewell of Slavianka march by Vasiliy Agapkin will crown the end of Victory Parade and performance of the Combined Military Band on Red Square.
