Music upon the Water!

Last Saturday «Krasnaya (Red) Presnya» Park hosted the last concert of the «Military Bands in the Parks» program of this July.

For a third year in a row Moscow’s parks and gardens are filled with wonderful wind music performed by some of the best military bands of the country to the joy and pleasure of the Muscovites and guests of the capital.

This time it was the turn of the Military Band of the Special Task Independent Division named after F. Dzerzhinsky decorated with the orders of Zhukov, Lenin, October Revolution and Red Banner of the Federal Service of the National Guard of the Russian Federation. The band performed in «Krasnaya (Red) Presnya» Park onstage of the concert venue placed upon Krasnogvardeyskie ponds.

Held in the unique park that inhaled the spirit of a big city from the nearby Moscow-city complex nevertheless managing to retain its old-time nature ensemble of antique lanes, picturesque ponds and channels, the last Saturday’s concert bore a special romantic touch.

Boats carrying visitors passed by the concert venue situated on a wooden floor covering the mirror -like surface of the ponds and the park seemed to be still falling into the arms of the fabulous band music as if waiting for the beloved melodies.

The concert program was opened by the «Hussar Mach». The music watch was passed to the old-time waltz «Beryozka» («The Birch»), vibrant «Tsyganochka» («The Gipsy Girl») and waltz «Forest Fairytale».

«It will be a great flaw from our part if we being in one of the oldest mansions of the city will not perform songs about Moscow, the best city on Earth», said the host of the concert before the performance of a potpourri «This is Moscow».

Every year the «Military Bands in the Parks» program is being organized by the Directorate of the Spasskaya Tower International Military Music Festival with the support of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Russian Emergencies Ministry, National Guard Forces and Government of Moscow.

This year thirteen Moscow’s parks and gardens are taking part in the program. The concert cycle is going to be adjourned August 18 in the Alexander Garden forestalling ten remarkable evening shows of the vibrant Spasskaya Tower International Military Music Festival which is going to be held on Red Square from August 24 to September 2, 2018.

The next concert of the program is going to be held August 4 at 5 p.m. on the Central Square of «Kuzminki» Park where the legendary and outstanding Central Band of the Navy named after N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov will perform.
