This year viewers of the International Military Music Festival “Spasskaya Tower” will watch a breathtaking performance of Fanfara Bersaglieri San Donà di Piave.
Fanfara Bersaglieri San Donà di Piave was founded in 1966 as the music band of the local Bersaglieri’s Section (Bersaglieri are shooters in the Italian Army, special military corps,
Nowadays the band is viewed as the representative of the historical region of Italy known as “Basso Piave”. Thus, the musicians aim to respect in the best way the story and pureness of the Bersaglieri’s music tradition.
The conductor of the band Fausto Niero deserves to be mentioned separately. He has been doing music since 12 years of age. Joining the band as one of its youngest participants he has walked a long way from an ordinary tenor horn to the band’s chief and conductor. Thanks to his experience Niero has managed to organize and arrange the activities of the band in accordance with the typical military structure, improving both its formal and musical aspects.
Fausto Niero has been the organizer and planner of the 1st Italian Festival “Military Tattoo Piave 2018” on the occasion of the 66th National Bersaglieri’s Rally.
Today the band counts 35 musicians, including Bersaglieri on discharge who served in the Italian Army, simple musicians and Bersaglieri’s spirit enthusiasts.
Besides participating in all institutional events, the band takes part in a whole scope of important international music events. They performed at the festivals in France, Germany, Belgium, Egypt, Spain and Austria.
In 2018 the XI International Military Music Festival “Spasskaya Tower” is going to be held from August 24 till September 2. The venue is as always unchangeable — the very heart of the capital — Red Square.
