Led by military conductor Colonel Konstantin Petrovich, the leading artistic team of the Russian Armed Forces, visited several Algerian cities, staging concerts in Algiers, Oran and Constantine. Prominent Russian musicians vowed the audiences not only with popular Russian compositions but with Algerian national pieces as well. Thus, they performed national anthems of Russia and Algeria, Blanter’s world-famous Katusha, Knipper’s Cavaliers of the Step, Agapkin’s Farewell of Slavianka as well as several popular patriotic songs of the Algerian War of Independence featuring Min Djibalina, Djazairana, Ya Chahid Elwatan and many others.
