Andalusian Horses and Flamenco Will Conquer the Hearts of the “Spasskaya Tower” Festival Viewers

Go back

From August 24 till September 2, the Cordoba Equestrian Association from Spain is going to present its unique program to the judgement of the Muscovites and guests of the capital on the horse riding arena of the XI International Military Music Festival “Spasskaya Tower”.

This year the hearts of the “Spasskaya Tower” Festival viewers will be conquered by the unique and fabulous cavaliers from the ancient city of Cordoba of Andalucía Autonomous Region (Kingdom of Spain) who are going to preset an incredible program uniting flamenco and performance of one of the most beautiful horses in the world — the Andalusian Horse.

For more than several centuries Cordoba has been the center of the Andalusian horse breeding. Elegant and majestic representatives of the breed have a long history. Back to the period of Emir Al-Hakam I reining in Cordoba (796–822) his stables counted more than two thousands horses of the mast. Then in 1570 in place of the Caliphate stables the new Royal Stables of Cordoba were built following the decree of the King of Spain Philip II, member of the Habsburg dynasty. Thus, the modern history of the Andalusian Horse began.

One of the most spectacular performances of the group and one of the best international shows is called the “Spirit and Passion of the Andalusian Horse”. Mighty and majestic as well as graceful and artful, the Andalusian Horse shows all the wonders of the dressage under the accompaniment of Spanish music. The “dialogue” between the Spanish beauty and its cavalier leaves deep impressions for the rest of the life. It seems that the horse is dancing responding to the movements of the girl. The cavalier does practically nothing, his manipulations are hardly visible. Those who once had an opportunity to watch this fabulous and vibrant show dream to attend it again.

For many years in a row the horse riding arena of the “Spasskaya Tower” Festival has been very popular among the equestrian arts lovers. As a matter of tradition, the program of the performances held on the horse riding arena is formed by the Kremlin Equestrian School. The cavaliers of the school are the permanent participants of the Festival and due to their skills in acrobatic horse riding (jigitovka) and equestrian vaulting the number of viewers of the horse shows of the “Spasskaya Tower” Festival has been constantly increasing.

For the first time representatives of the Spanish equestrian school took part in the “Spasskaya Tower” Festival in 2015, then the country situated in the South West of Europe was represented by the cavaliers of the Royal Andalusian School of Equstrian Art from the city of Jerez de la Frontera.
