May 16, 2020 Moscow’s Zaryadye Park will once again host a qualification round for the Spasskaya Tower Children and Youth Wind Bands Festival (further on the Festival). Following the well-established tradition, the run-up will be held in the form of a contest for young musicians representing the Central Federal District.

The Children and Youth Wind Band Festival saw light in 2014 within the Spasskaya Tower for Children project that over the years has enlarged both its territorial scope and participants’ number. Carried out by the Spasskaya Tower International Military Tattoo Directorate, the Festival enjoys the support of the Russian Ministry of Culture and Valery Khalilov Wind Society Association. One of the tasks set by the Festival’s organizers is searching for talented young musicians, offering them support and providing favorable environment for their further cultural development.

Meantime, the Children and Youth Wind Bands Contest is the qualification round for the Children and Youth Wind Band Festival. For the first time it was held in 2017 in the Alexander Garden along with the performance of the Combined Children Wind Band, another premier of the 2017 Spasskaya Tower Tattoo run. Led by Colonel Evgeniy Nikitin, conductor of the President’s Band and Honored Artist of Russia, it performed popular songs and melodies right beneath the Kremlin walls.

In 2018 the contest gained support of the Mayor and Government of Moscow, as well as a new venue onstage of Moscow’s Zaryadye Park Large Amphitheater that allowed for turning this music celebration into a much more exciting and interesting event both for its participants and audiences.

And now the Directorate of the Spasskaya Tower Festival is once again inviting the most talented and creative representatives of the Central Federal District to take part in the Fourth Children and Youth Wind Bands Contest. Those passing through the qualifications will be granted the opportunity to become part of the Seventh Spasskaya Tower Children and Youth Wind Bands Festival, held from 28 to 30 of August 2020 onstage of the Children Playground of the Spasskaya Tower International Military Music Festival on Red Square.

To become participant of the qualification round of the Festival (for representatives of the Central Federal District) it is required to get acquainted with the Provisions and forward to the sbdeti@spasstower.ru an application form (marked the Fourth Children and Youth Wind Bands Contest). Applications are to be submitted by March 20, 2020.
