The Seventeenth Spasskaya Tower International Military Music Festival is looking forward to welcoming the Mongolian Military Song and Dance Academic Ensemble. One of the debutants of this year’s run, the band will showcase in Moscow some of the most renowned music pieces by Mongolian and foreign composers. The stands will embark on an intriguing journey to the ‘land of the endless blue sky’ when enjoying unique music sketches unfolding on Red Square.
Formed in December of 1932, the Mongolian Military Song and Dance Academic Ensemble is currently regarded as the premier artistic organization in Mongolia. In its over 90 years of existence, the group has greatly raised the caliber of its artistic performances and expanded the repertoire, literally achieving the pinnacle of mastery. Along the way it has been known under a variety of names, with the Military Theater, Song and Dance Company of the Armed Forces, as well as the Song and Dance Ensemble of the Mongolian People’s Army, just to name a few. During the Manchurian Strategic Offensive Operation in 1945, when Mongolian officers and soldiers were fighting their Liberation War against the Japanese forces, the Military Song and Dance Academic Ensemble did a lot to bolster the army’s morale and help the people on the liberated territories. The group has also participated in a diverse array of state cultural events, both at home and overseas, and created a plethora of music and dance compositions.
The ensemble’s artistic endeavors encompass a broad range of responsibilities, with a primary emphasis on the consolidation of Mongolian state power, strengthening the national army morale, the encouragement of patriotic upbringing of the youth, and promotion of traditional values and aesthetics. In 2025, the Spasskaya Tower Festival will unfold on Moscow’s Red Square between August 22 and 31. The tattoo’s overwhelming production will bring together over 1,500 of the world’s finest performers representing Russian and foreign military and law enforcement agencies, as well as artistic troupes. The seventeenth run is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Great Patriotic Victory, and once again will be enjoying the unwavering organizational and/or financial support of the Russian Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Culture, and Moscow Government Department of Culture.
