Some of the Best Samples of the Russian Classical and Contemporary Music at the Military Bands in the City Parks Project, Saint Petersburg Edition

Go back

This Sunday, August 9, we are looking forward to spending another beautiful music weekend together. This time, joining the cast of the 2025 Military Bands in the City Parks, will be the Military Band of the Higher Naval Engineering College.

Led by Major Yuriy Lepilin, the musicians will showcase a program focused on some of the best samples of Russian classical, military, traditional and popular music. Visit the Moscow Park of the Victory to enjoy the world’s renowned masterpieces by Sergey Prokofiev, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, Georgiy Sviridov, and Ilya Shatrov as well as popular songs by Vladimir Vysotskiy, Arno Babajanyan and Muslim Magomaev.

The ensemble saw light on April 8, 1948 when the Second Leningrad High Naval Engineering College was established. Preserving the glorious traditions of their predecessors, boosting camaraderie and morale as well as taking part in the college’s everyday activities are among the musicians top priorities. They are also actively engaged in various cultural events and music contests. The ensemble can frequently be spotted among the participants of military parades celebrating the Great Patriotic Victory on Moscow’s Red Square and Saint Petersburg Palace Square, and paying tribute to the superb Russian Navy.

Thus, we are waiting for you this Saturday, August 9, at 12 am in the Moscow Park of the Victory in Saint Petersburg to meet the hilarious Military Band of the Higher Naval Engineering College.

Taking place as part of the ninth season of the Military Bands in the City Parks, the concert will once again bring military musicians to the parks and gardens of St Petersburg. This charming tradition of the past has been meticulously revived by the Organizing Committee of the Spasskaya Tower International Military Tattoo with the ongoing support of the Russian Ministry of Defense and Moscow Government. In 2024, due to the support of the Saint Petersburg Government and the governor of the city Alexander Beglov, the project made its debut in the northern capital of Russia, and it was such a success that it was decided to carry it on this year. Later the project got another enlargement traveling as far as the city of Pskov.
Throughout the summer, enchanting wind melodies will engulf parks and gardens of Moscow, St Petersburg and now Pskov, paving the way for the Seventeenth Spasskaya Tower International Military Tattoo that will unfold on Red Square between August 22 and 31. Bringing together over 1500 artists from all corners of the globe, the Festival will honor the 80th anniversary of the Great Patriotic War and pay tribute to all those valiantly defending their nations.
