Songs about Moscow and Russia to Engulf the Shadowy Lanes of the Moscow Izmailovskiy Park

Go back

This Saturday, August 9, the Izmailovskiy Park in the northeast of Moscow will once again open its doors for the ninth season of the Military Bands in the City Parks project. Performed by the Military Band of the 5129 Military Unit of the Central District of the National Guard Forces, the all-time favorite hits and iconic compositions will undoubtedly resonate with the public and make everyone boogie.

With Lieutenant Colonel Pavel Pogorelov in charge, the band has prepared another amazing program filling it with the popular songs of the 1960s and 1970s. These greatest oldies once made people fall in love, accompanied them through their most remarkable life moments and stirred unmatched emotions. And now the musicians of the 5129 Military Unit are eager to recreate the authentic atmosphere of parties used to be thrown within the tightly-knit family circles, and revive some of those warmest feelings.

As a military ensemble, the band representing National Guard Forces has also infused its performance with a plethora of compositions highlighting the greatness of our country spanning from the far east city of Vladivostok to its most western part of Kaliningrad region, as well as its people.

Hence, we are looking forward to meeting you in Moscow’s Izmailovskiy Park this Saturday, August 9, at 4 pm (16:00) and spending quality time in the company of some of the best musicians of the country.

Note that the entrance is absolutely free of charge.

With the ongoing support of the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Directorate of the Spasskaya Tower Tattoo continues its efforts to revive one of the most charming traditions of the past featuring military bands performing in parks and gardens, streets and alleys, and other iconic open air sites of Moscow and Saint Petersburg, and now the City of Pskov as well.

The project, in essence, is a series of concerts staged by bands representing Russia’s military and law enforcement agencies, paving the way for the main events of the Spasskaya Tower Festival that this year will unfold on Moscow’s Red Square between August 25 and 31. Bringing together over 1500 artists from all corners of the globe, the Festival will honor the 80th anniversary of the Great Patriotic War and pay tribute to all those valiantly defending their nations.
