The Military Bands in the City Parks, Saint Petersburg Edition, is in Full Swing

Go back

This Saturday, June 28, at 12 am we are looking forward to meeting you in Saint Petersburg for another concert of the Military Bands in the City Parks. Lying between the rigid building of the Russian Admiralty and magnificent St. Issac’s Cathedral, there is the Alexander Garden. And this time it will become stage for musicians of the Mikhailovskaya Military Artillery Academy Band who are eager to declare love to Russia’s gorgeous northern capital.

Led by Major Alexey Bubnov, the ensemble has prepared a special performance aimed at proving that military musicians can really step out of the box. Military marches and flowy waltzes, popular songs and all-time hits will flow over the lanes of the Alexander Garden.
The history of the band can be traced back to the 19th century when the Mikhailovskaya Military Artillery Academy was established. For almost two centuries the ensemble has been an inherent part of the activities carried out by the only military educational institution in Russia preparing officers for the artillery and missile forces of the country.

Today musicians are actively engaged in various cultural events and music contests. They regularly take part in military parades celebrating the Great Patriotic Victory on Saint Petersburg Palace Square and annually pay tribute to the superb Russian Navy.

Taking place as part of the ninth season of the Military Bands in the City Parks, the concert will once again bring military musicians to the parks and gardens of St Petersburg. This charming tradition of the past has been meticulously revived by the Organizing Committee of the Spasskaya Tower International Military Tattoo with the ongoing support of the Russian Ministry of Defense and Moscow Government. In 2024, the project made its debut in the city argued to be the northern capital of Russia, and it was such a success that it was decided to carry it on this year.

Hence, we invite you to join us this Saturday, June 28, at 12 am in the Alexander Garden and enjoy another beautiful music weekend in the city. Entrance is free.

Throughout the summer, enchanting wind melodies will engulf parks and gardens of Moscow and St Petersburg, paving the way for the Seventeenth Spasskaya Tower International Military Tattoo that will unfold on Red Square between August 22 and 31. Bringing together over 1500 artists from all corners of the globe, the Festival will honor the 80th anniversary of the Great Patriotic War and pay tribute to all those valiantly defending their nations.
