Today, on the first day of Autumn, the cobblestones of Red Square welcomed the daytime show of the Sixteenth Spasskaya Tower International Military Music Festival, gathering a lot of young guests who as soon as tomorrow will be back to school.
It was a brilliant early Autumn day in Moscow. With the sun shining, people were taking their seats on the stands to appreciate the picturesque view and enjoy great music, vivid dances and lively songs from all over the globe. The military bands, artistic ensembles, and honor guard units from Russia, Belarus, Venezuela, Guinea, Egypt, China, Thailand, Turkey and South Africa have gathered on Red Square to showcase all their talents and artistry on the cobblestones of Red Square, in the very heart of Russia.
Throughout the week the Spasskaya Tower Festival stands have been literally sold out. Therefore, a lot of wind music fans didn’t have a chance to visit the Festival, which is one of the most prominent cultural events of Moscow. “I would like to acknowledge the exceptional efforts of journalists who have been extensively covering the Festival and communicating with the audiences out there. Interviews with Russian and foreign participants, colorful stories from Red Square, and all the behind-the- scenes secrets - everything was narrated by the Russian and foreign media. A lot of people who have seen it on TV or on the Internet, or read about the Festival in newspapers ultimately decide to come and enjoy this wonderful celebration of music”, said Ms Evgenia Chizova, the Head of the Spasskaya Tower Festival Advertising and PR.
The Spasskaya Tower Festival is a genuine celebration of music, magic and friendship. Once you have experienced it, you always want to come back.
In 2022, the cobblestones of Red Square welcomed the Merry Notes Children's Violin Ensemble. The young artists were so impressed by the Festival, all its splendor and vibes, that many of the kids have made up their minds to come back. And in 2024, one of the young violinists is once again pounding the cobblestones of Red Square. Tikhon Slyusarenko was so delighted by the atmosphere of the Festival that he decided to throw in his lot with military music. Today, he is a trumpet player within the Suvorov Cadet Band of the Lieutenant General Valery Khalilov Moscow Military Music School.
People come to the Spasskaya Tower Festival as kids and then happily return as adults. Thus, Captain Grigoriy Velko, Artistic Director of the 23d Military Band of the Leningrad Military District, who is making his debut with the ensemble, has already pounded the Festival stage as the Suvorov cadet.
One of the Festival’s primary tasks is to promote wind music among the youngsters and encourage them to join wind military ensembles. And for sure it’s almost impossible not to fall in love with wind music when it is performed on Red Square against the ancient walls of the Moscow Kremlin and Saint Basil’s Cathedral.
The Spasskaya Tower Festival is being carried out following the Order of the Russian President Vladimir Putin, under the aegis of the Public Council headed by Mr. Alexander Zhukov, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, and enjoying the long-standing support of the Russian MoD, MFA and Moscow’s Department of Culture.
This year’s Festival is being carried out with the support of the Presidential Foundation for Cultural Initiatives that upholds the most creative and relevant artistic and cultural projects.
Tickets for the Tattoo are available via the Festival official website (www.spasstower.ru) and the Festival’s ticket office on Manezhnaya Square near the 1812 War Museum. The ticket office is open daily, from 12 am to 9 pm.
