Moscow’s Red Presnya Park Welcomed the Central Band of the Russian Navy

Go back

This Saturday, June 8, the Military Bands in the City Parks welcomed the gorgeous Central Band of the Russian Navy named after Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, one the audiences’ strongest favorites. All the guests visiting Moscow’s Krasnaya (Red) Presnya Park had a chance to feel the warm sea breeze and the might of Russia’s naval ships.

The precise rhythms of military marches, beautiful sounds of waltzes and lively marine songs invited the audiences to learn about the country’s naval and marine traditions as well as about the Russian Navy prominent founding father, Peter the Great, whose birthday is celebrated on June 9.

This time the Russian Navy Band musicians shared the stage with their younger colleagues from the Young Alexandrovs Art Studio led by Alexander Gilev.

Established in 2007 within the A.v. Alexandrov Academic Song and Dance Ensemble of the Russian Army, the Young Alexandrovs Art Studio focuses on creating an environment for developing artistic talent and creativity. The studio members have already stepped on stage of the country’s most prominent venues, including the Mariinsky Theater, the Moscow International House of Music as well as the Spasskaya Tower International Military Tattoo, making their debut in 2022.

Accompanied by their senior fellow musicians, the Young Alexandrovs also took the guests on board of the marine music ship.

“We are always pleased to take part in the Military Bands in the City project. To illustrate, it’s our second time performing this season. It’s a very important project as it brings benefits not only to the audiences, but the musicians as well. They definitely feel all the positive vibes and get all the inspiration they need to carry on”, noted Captain 2nd Rank Valentin Lyaschenko, Head and Artistic Director of the Band.

With the ongoing support of the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Organizing Committee of the Spasskaya Tower International Military Tattoo continues its efforts to revive one of the most charming traditions of the past, with military bands performing in parks and gardens, streets and alleys, and other iconic spots in Moscow and its environs.

Throughout the summer, enchanting wind melodies will engulf parks and gardens in Moscow and its environs, paving the way for the Sixteenth Spasskaya Tower International Military Tattoo that will unfold on Red Square from August 23 to September 1.
