Welcoming Old Friends: Participants from Belarus Will Once Again Perform at the Spasskaya Tower Festival

Go back

The Exemplary Band of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus is well familiar to the audiences of the Spasskaya Tower Festival having staged quite a number of performances on Red Square together with the Honor Guard Unit. At the 2021 Festival run they will present a new program.

The Exemplary Band of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus was established back in 1950 as the ensemble of the Belarus Military District Headquarters. Currently it is the leading military music band of the country. The band’s repertoire numbers over 500 pieces by leading classical and contemporary composers. It regularly performs in the Central Officers Club in Minsk, guards and soldiers clubs across the country, participates in radio and TV programs, regularly goes on tour around the country and abroad. It is also a regular participant of military parades, solemn marches and other social and cultural events.

The group is especially popular among its admirers for its open-air training grounds concerts with solo, ensemble and orchestra performances.

This year musicians of the Exemplary Band will once again step on the cobblestones of Red Square together with the Honor Guard of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus.

The unit was formed in 1995 to support arrivals and departures of the heads of foreign states and governmental delegations and to take part in different state official events. Being one of the country’s hallmarks, the Honor Guard represents Belarus both on national and international levels.

The unit consists of 180 servicemen, who demonstrate synchronous arms drill with short rifles and sabres.

«For this year’s performance the unit has mastered some new arms drill and regrouping elements (known as 'clock face' and 'gears'). Besides they will bring to Moscow the audience favorite 'dominoes' arms drill (but this time they’ll perform it in slow motion that makes it even more fascinating) and modified 'comb' regrouping (in the form of two triangles). You’ll also have a chance to meet the 'soloists' who have developed several new short rifle drill elements themselves», noted the representatives of the Spasskaya Tower Festival Directorate.
