Concert of the Military Band of the Korean People’s Army of the DPR of Korea at the Russian Army Central Academic Theater Scored Full House

Yesterday, August 26, the stage of the Russian Army Central Academic Theater hosted the concert of the Military Band of the Korean People’s Army of the DPR of Korea, the debutant of the Twelfth Spasskaya Tower International Military Music Festival.

The concert was a big success attracting both Russian and Korean audiences. Major General Timofey Mayakin, Head of the Military Band Music Service of the Russian Armed Forces – Chief Military Conductor and Music Director of the Spasskaya Tower Festival, also attended the concert. 

The Military Band of the Korean People’s Army devotes much of its attention to compositions belonging to the specific style of the patriotic song called taejung kayo.They express the invincible spirit and might of the Korean People’s Army. Some of the compositions were performed at the concert, including Song of General Kim Il Sung, Song of the Korean People’s Army, Song of General Kim Jong Il, Hymn to General Kim Jong-un, and Be Glorious Our Great Party

Then, the women dance team presented the audiences with a traditional tap-dance. Seven dancers were so precise and agile in their movements that aroused thundering applause of the guests. To honor Russia musicians and vocalists performed Semen Chernetskiy Moscow’s Fireworks march and several Russian and Korean patriotic songs featuring Katusha, Victory Day, Nightingales, Be Glorious General Kim Jong-un, I Love You, Socialism, Our National Flag and others. 

In the final part of the concert the ensemble performed Friendshipmarch composed by Lieutenant General Valery Khalilov who honor the memory of the great Russian composer and military conductor. Valery Khalilov is the iconic figure for the Korean musicians as he wrote for them a marching composition for meeting official delegations.
