Meeting Muscovites and Guests of the Capital

Go back

Today, August 24, participants of the Twelfth Spasskaya Tower International Military Music Festival marched along the park lanes of VDNH.

Musicians and dancers started their show from the Square of Industry. Marching along the Main Alley, the Alley of Cosmonauts and the Central Alley the parade finally reached the Main Entrance Arch of VDNH. Muscovites and guests of the capital enthusiastically welcomed all the artists awarding them with thundering applause and bravos.

Visitors of VDNH were so delighted with the show that they eagerly shared their emotions, telling the press that it was such a good opportunity to come to know the Spasskaya Tower Festival and its participants better. Many of them were impressed with the bands’ unique uniform. Speaking about our guests from Egypt, a lady from Saint Petersburg pointed out that they were very positive, marching, smiling and greeting everyone.

The youngest guests of the parade were also thrilled. Trying not to miss anything, they were excitingly taking photos and sharing their impressions with the adults.

With more than forty thousand people visiting VDNH this Saturday, organizers of the Spasskaya Tower Festival have definitely chosen the right place for holding this amazing marching parade. Having gone through a large-scale reconstruction and upgrading, the exhibition complex got back its greatness and magnificence. Its long and large alleys allowed that thousands of Muscovites and guests of the capital witnessed the Festival participants’ performance in one of the most beautiful places of Moscow.

Hans Trise, a tourist from Germany, told that he visited VDNH in 1981. Back then it mainly exhibited the achievements of the Soviet republics. “But now I’m very impressed as it turned in a wonderful place offering everything that a citizen may want. VDNH has got a soul”, added Mr. Trise adding that he was very happy to witness this beautiful music performance.

The President’s Band of the Moscow Kremlin Commandant’s Service opened the parade. They were followed by their younger colleagues from Anapa, Novorosiisk, Rostov-on-Don, Moscow and Shakhty, all participants of the Spasskaya Tower for Children. Then was the turn of the ensembles from Republic of Korea, Belarus, Italy, DPR of Korea, Russia, Norway, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Japan, Azerbaijan, China and Egypt to take the floor.

The International Celtic Massed Pipes and Drums together with the International Celtic Dance Team were closing off the parade. Reaching the Main Entrance Arch, they showed the visitors their Celtic Energy, a very vibrant performance especially created for the guests of this year’s Festival’s production.

Thus, Jenny McDougal and Tina Gripton, dancers from Canada, noted that performing on Red Square and outside of it was completely different. “On Red Square every step is rehearsed and precise while here we’ve had to improvise. Back on Red Square we only see stands full of people and try to send them all our energy, but right here we were able to see their faces, their smiles and joy. This is very inspiring”, noted the girls.
