Chilly Norilsk Meets Hot Tashkent Onstage of the Sixth Spasskaya Tower Children and Youth Wind Bands Festival

The second day of the Spasskaya Tower Children and Youth Wind Bands Festival welcomed eight junior music ensembles coming from Kaliningrad, Naberezhnye Chelny, Shermodan, Norilsk, Rostov Region, Donetsk and Tashkent. 

The Wind Band of the Republican Specialized Academic Music Lyceum of the National Guard of the Uzbekistan Republic had the honor to open the festival’s second day. Our guests from Tashkent performed music pieces from different music styles, including jazz, pop and even spirituals. 

Timur Mirzaev, Artistic Director and Conductor of the youth band, said that they came to Moscow on the invitation of Colonel Vera Krylova and Colonel Evgeniy Nikitin, Head and Conductor of the President’s Band, respectively. “Our school provides special training for future military musicians. Both boys and girls aged from 14 to 18 may become our students”, told Timur Mirzaev, adding that his band in the prize-winner of various international and national contests, staging about 60 performances per year. 

Closing the day, the Brass Banda from Norilsk vowed the guests of the Children Playground with a vibrant defile show, medley of Russian and foreign popular songs and an exciting drumming performance. 

At the end of the second festival day all the junior bands received diplomas and greetings from Colonel Evgeniy Nikitin. “You are all incredibly talented and I wish you all the best”, addressed the participants Colonel Nikitin. 

This year 26 music ensembles will step onto the stage of the Children Playground. Ten of them are prize-winners of the Third Spasskaya Tower Children and Youth Wind Bands Contest, the qualifying round for the main festival held among the representatives of the Central Federal District. Thirteen music ensembles come from the South, North-Western, North and Privolzhskiy Federal Districts. Besides, there will be four foreign bands representing Belarus, Uzbekistan, Donetsk and Israel. Owing to the bigger amount of applications received this year, the organizers gave way and increased the number of the festival’s days to four.

FOR INFORMATION 

Held within the bigger Spasskaya Tower for Children project since 2014, the festival is growing every year expanding both its geographical footprint and number of participants. So far more than 2000 talented boys and girls representing artistic groups from 18 regions of Russia as well as Israel, Donetsk and Lugansk regions have shown their skills on Red Square, the very heart of Moscow. One of the major tasks set by the organizers is searching for young talented artists and helping them in their development by creating favorable environment and conditions.
