Today, August 31, the Children Playground of the Spasskaya Tower for Kids festival on Red Square for the fourth time hosted the Youth Honor Guard Contest featuring participation of thirteen groups selected from the group of twenty five candidates.
The final makeup of the contest included

3. The Honor Guard Platoon of the Barnaul Law Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia
4. The Watch Guard Group of the Tobolsk Military and Sports Center of the Youth “Rossiyane”
5. The Kremlin Cadets Military Patriotic Club affiliated with the Ekaterinburg Cadet Corps
6. The Municipal Youth Autonomous Institution the Patriot Youth Military and Sports Center Post N. 1 of Krasnoyarsk
7. The Young Army Post N.1 of Kursk, the Memory Military Patriotic Squad named after N.G. Presnyakov
8. The Honor Guard of the Post N. 1 in Krasnodon
9. The Young Army Movement Staff Post N. 1 of the Municipal Budget Educational Institution “Children Arts Palace” of Nevinnomyssk
10.The Samara Cadet Corps of the School N. 170 named after the Hero of the Soviet Union Z.A. Kosmodemiyanskaya
11.Combined Squad of the Post N. 1 of the Eternal Glory memorial of the Municipal Autonomous Educational Institution “Stavropol Children Arts Palace”
12.The Banner Group of the Taganrog Cadet Corps of the State Budget Educational Institution “Cadet School N. 1785” of Moscow
13.The Cadets of the Grand Prince Alexander Nevskiy of the cadet class of the Municipal Budget Educational Institution “School N. 5” of Pyatigorsk, the cadets of the Berkut Military Patriotic Club of Pyatigorsk
The contest is being organized by the Directorate of the Spasskaya Tower International Military Music Festival. The aim of the Youth Honor Guard Contest is providing patriotic upbringing among the youth, cultivating respect toward the symbols and rituals of the Motherland, providing support to the youngsters willing to learn about history of Russian military traditions as well as promoting service in the ranks of the Russian Armed Forces.
The right to take part in the contest is granted to honor guard groups representing educational institutions, military patriotic clubs and public organizations.
Each honor guard group should include from five to eight members not younger than 12 years old.
Each organization may render not more than two honor guard groups. The contest program must include a number of compulsory elements including the wreath laying ceremony, change of honor guard and others.
The contestants were judged by the pool of juries featuring officers of the Honor Guard of the Presidential Regiment of the Federal Guard Service of Russia and Honor Guard of the 154thPreobrazhenskiy Regiment as well as the Chairman of the Committee in memory of the Soviet Red Army General Georgy Zhukov.
After completing the mandatory contest program the honor guard groups were to show their skills in arms drills.
At the end all the scores were summed up. Following the results the winner of the contest became the Municipal Youth Autonomous Institution the Patriot Youth Military and Sports Center Post N. 1 of Krasnoyarsk
Mr. Segey Pokrovskiy, head of the winning group told that it was the second time in row his fosters were taking part in the contest. Last year they came fourth.
“This December we’ve got the grant from Rosmolodezh and could have acquired the Simonov carabines necessary for performing. We’ve started training hard mastering our skills of handling carabines and taking part in various events held in Krasnoyarsk including the Victory Parade. As the result we’ve managed to qualify for the finals. Franklyspeakingwehaven’timaginedwinningasthelevelofpreparationoftheotherparticipantsisveryhigh”, toldMr. Pokrovskiy.
Sofia Belyaeva, member of the winning team, told she’s been the member of the Honor Guard of Post N.1 of the Internal Flame of the Victory Memorial Museum for three years.
“I think it is great honor to be the member of the Post N.1 Honor Guard. Becoming familiar with the memory of those who had given their lives for our Motherland I now have the better understanding of history of our country and I’m more inclined to go into the law enforcement sphere in the future”, she added.
The second place was awarded to the Honor Guard of the Post N. 1 in Krasnodon of Lugansk Region and the third place – to the Watch Guard Group of the Tobolsk Military and Sports Center of the Youth “Rossiyane”.
All the participants of the contest were awarded diplomas. The winners got memorable souvenirs from the Spasskaya Tower Festival Directorate, the Presidential Regiment and the Baskin Robbins Company, partner of the Festival.
The award ceremony was held with the participation of Lieutenant Colonel Andrey Soldatov, Deputy Commander of the Presidential Regiment battalion of the Service of Moscow’s Kremlin Commandant of the Federal Guard Service of the Russian Federation.
