The Spasskaya Tower for Kids Children and Youth Brass Bands Festival has opened today at 11 a.m. in the Children Playground on Red Square. The Festival will last three days till the 26thof August.
The Festival was opened by the performance of the Ozerchanka Girls Drummers Band from the town of Ozery (Moscow Region).
The drums stopped silent the audience was addressed by Mr. Sergey Smirnov, Head of the Spasskaya Tower Festival Directorate and Executive Secretary of the Festival’s Public Council.
“Today we are opening the Children and Youth Brass Bands Festival, the most touching and fantastic event of the Spasskaya Tower Festival. Finally, all the parents have the opportunity to watch their kids performing and making art. I want to thank all the participants of the Festival, their teachers and parents. They all together serve the great cause of paving the way for the youngsters into the future of Russian wind music. Let’s wish them luck”, told Mr. Smirnov.
The participants of the Festival were also welcomed by Mr. Alexey Lebedev, Director General of Rosconcert.
“For the sixth year in a row the Spasskaya Tower for Kids Children and Youth Festival is being held onstage of this unique venue in the very heart of Russia. The Festival catches the eye not only because of its venue but also due to the opportunity to listen to some of the best children youth bands. I’m glad to announce that the organizing committee of the Tchaikovsky International Music Contest, the most important music contest in the world, has taken a decision to add to its program one nomination amore, being the wind instruments. Probably today onsite this venue we will see the future finalists of the Tchaikovsky contest. I wish you luck and want to express immense gratitude to all the teachers”, said Mr. Lebedev.
Colonel Evgeniy Nikitin, Deputy Head of the Band – Military Conductor of the President’s Band of the Service of Moscow Kremlin’s Commandant of the Federal Guard Service of Russia and Music Director of the Spasskaya Tower for Kids Children and Youth Brass Bands Festival also greeted everybody with the opening of the Festival, wishing luck and good mood to everyone.
Comparing to the last year the list of participants has completely renewed. Bands from the Central Federal District were selected in May in Zaryadye Park.
During the three days of the Festival ten wind bands and six drum bands will perform in front of the audience. On the first day of the Festival eight bands showed their skills onstage of the Children Playground. Six drums bands had the opportunity for the first time take part in a music battle the so called Drum Jam which included three blocks, being the drum cadenza, drum divertimento and show-bit.
In the first block two or three drummers from each band showed their skills, in the second – each group staged one vibrant performance, in the third – all the participants of the Drum Jam united in a show-bit. On the spot they managed to make a harmonious rhythmic composition.
The Spasskaya Tower for Kids Festival attracted large audience. Melodies performed by the young musicians touched the hearts of the guests and presented them with a bunch of positive emotions.
