The Jordanian Armed Forces Band and Honor Guard Unit

The Jordanian Armed Forces Band was established in 1921 with a core of 10 musicians.

In the decades to come, the full band has grown to eight sections including seven musical groups and a symphonic orchestra, all in all more than 500 musicians. All members of the band are professional musicians with academic background, being trained in the army music school, established in 1966.

The band gives honor to high ranking personalities and officials hosted by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, contributes to the prestige of many official ceremonies as well national celebrations and festivals. Members of the band’s symphonic orchestra, the first in the Arab world, accompany the monarch during his international travels.

The Jordanian Armed Forces Band marches and competes internationally, with hundreds of performances under its belt, and has been the recipient of numerous awards.

The band performed in many countries all over the world, including the USA, England, Spain, France, Germany, Japan, Austria as well as many other Arab and European countries. The band took part in the Edinburgh Military Tattoo as well as festivals held in Bahrain and Oman.

At the 2011 Spasskaya Tower Festival featured participation of 54 band musicians and 18 members of the Honor Guard Unit. The Honor Guard Unit was formed in 2007 and participated with the Jordanian Armed Forces Band in Bahrain, Oman, and Edinburgh.
