Following the order of the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan on November 8, 1995, the Central Military Band of the republic’s Ministry of Defense was established. Since December 2015, after a series of reforms, the ensemble has been going under the name of the Central Military Band of the National Military and Patriotic Center of the Kazakhstan Armed Forces.
From covering solemn military ceremonies and a variety of public cultural and athletic events to promoting patriotic values through music performances, the ensemble scope of responsibilities is incredibly broad.
As the acclaimed leading artistic team of the Kazakhstan Armed Forces, the band never misses a single military parade in the republic, and takes part in all major public events. Some of Kazakhstan’s most talented contemporary composers and soloists have the privilege of collaborating with the military musicians. The band focuses on creating music pieces based on Kazakh melos or Kazakh folk music. Subsequently, its musicians also possess some special skills, like being able to play traditional Kazakh brass and percussion instruments.
The Central Military Band may be always spotted among the participants of different international military music festivals, both at home and abroad. When participating in the Lord Mayor’s Show International Tattoo in Great Britain in 2007, the Central Military Band of the Kazakhstan Armed Forces won the award for the best military ensemble.
As part of the Military and Patriotic Center of the Kazakhstan Armed Forces, the Central Military Band frequently collaborates with various artistic groups functioning within the center, for example its dance company and folk band. Musicians stage joint performances with the Honor Guard Unit of the 68665 military unit of the Kazakhstan Ministry of Defense as well as soloist Jasmin Tuzelov, representing the center’s children studio Jas Sarbaz.
