At present RAF volunteer bands of pipers are formed according to geographical principle at RAF bases all over the United Kingdom. Their purpose is to encourage interest in traditional music among RAF personnel and local residents, in supporting the morale of servicemen and civilians through participation in cultural and entertainment events. The frequent march outs of RAF pipes and drums at home and abroad and musical score at ceremonial, public and charity events bring a growing popularity to the band. Apart from regular performances at the famous Edinburgh Military Festival, RAF Band visits many countries of the world, for example: Australia, Falkland Islands, Belgium, Estonia and the African continent.
