The Slovenian Armed Forces Band and Honor Guard Unit

Formed back in 1996, the Slovenian Armed Forces Band is primarily responsible for meeting protocol needs and supporting official receptions held on the occasion of high-level visits. With Ljubljana Music Academy graduates as its bulk, the ensemble is famous for its vast artistic possibilities and truly varied repertoire. Besides being an indispensable part of all state cultural events, the SAF Band is actively engaged in albums recording and touring abroad. So far Slovenian musicians have performed in Austria, Italy, Hungary, Germany, Kosovo, France, US, Denmark, Belgium, Croatia, Macedonia and the Czech Republic.

In 2011 the SAF Band was among the organizers of the international festival of military bands held at the Stožice Hall in Ljubljana and featuring ensembles from Albania, Austria, Italy, Hungary, Germany and US.

For its professional activities the band was marked with the bronze and golden medals of the Slovenian Armed Forces.
