The Band and Honor Guard of the Republican Guard of France

The Band was formed within the Republican Guard created by Napoleon, the last cavalry unit of the French Armed Forces.

Stationed in the ancient barracks in the centre of Paris, the Guard makes part the National Gendarmerie providing security of the residences of the President and Prime Minister as well as the National Assembly. There can be a parallel drawn between the French gendarmerie and Russian Cossacks, as gendarmes literally mean armed people, citizens defending the state borders.

Commanded by General Jean-Pierre Moulinier. the Republican Guard disposes of dozens of units: from the chorus of the French Army and honored motorcycle escort to three cavalry squadrons and a unique horse fanfaronade orchestra.

The Band’s repertoire encompasses a plethora of compositions combining traditions and contemporary spirit.
