The Singapore Police Force Band

The Singapore Police Force Band is the oldest band of the country. Formed in 1925 the group originally listed musicians only from British India. But in 1945 after the liberation of Singapore it started recruiting bandsmen from local musicians, besides acquiring its present name.
Representing the Singapore Police Force the band consists of 75 musicians and has several ensembles such as the military band, quintet, brass quintet and woodwind ensemble. Besides it is the only service band in Singapore that is complemented by the Women Police Pipes and Drums. The band often performs with the Gurkha contingent, the heritage of the British Empire that nowadays makes part of the Singapore Police.
The band’s repertoire is very wide including great classical compositions, popular songs, ethnic music of Southeast Asia and others.
Owing to its high professionalism and dedication the band has become famous not only in Singapore but also abroad, performing at prestigious military music festivals in Edinburgh, Bremen, Zurich and Vietnam.
