The Scottish Guards Regiment First Battalion Pipes and Drums

The Scottish Guards Regiment was founded in 1642 by Marquis Arhail as the personal guard of King of Great Britain Charles I. At present the battalion and orchestra are based in the German city of Munster and have recently performed military tasks in Iraq and Afghanistan. Today, apart from the musical role, they perform the obligations of military medical personnel, drivers of armoured vehicles, military intelligence operators.

The parade uniform of bagpipers of the Scottish Guards Regiment has been designed on the basis of the Royal Steward checks, and the military dress includes blue jackets, hats made of bear fur and red jackets, embroidered with French lilies — symbols of XVIII century battle honours. The drums are decorated with the regiment’s main decorations.

The Band has taken part in many military music festivals in Europe and abroad.
